Hi,

I'm the new owner of a 6' (Parlour) grand piano made by Caveau in
Paris. It's nice but needs a little bit of work. The soundboard bears
the details: 1044 Modele No: 2 32975

The piano came to me from an old lady in Bristol, UK who has had it for
more than 40 years but has been unable to play for a long time, she
can't remember where the piano came from, or when she last played it.

The case is faded where it has been in the sunlight - is there a way to
restore the darker shade without stripping and re-lacquer? It's a dark
wood case, not black paint like some German pianos.

Does anyone know about the makers or what date it could be from? A
quick google search reveals noting except a Sothebys sale some years
ago of a Modele No: 1 by Caveau.

TIA
Richard

Tip: Try searching on Gaveau instead of Caveau; that's the name of the
French piano maker.
