I am looking to purchase a baby grand in UK for my son who is working to
grade 7 piano exams.

I know I would be better looking for a grand but a baby is all that will fit
in my dining room, and it must look like a decent bit of furniture.

I have seen several pianos in the £3000 to £4000 range.

The best of which (to an untrained ear) so far is:

a) Ronson ( supposed to be from the Challen stable I think) beautifully
restored mahogany case, restringed & felted £3000

b) New (demonstration) Walstein Mahogany Polyester £3750. Walstein, from
China.....seems a bit cheap for new but looks and sound great

Can any of you pass any comments on the above and or provide some
constructive criticism.

Smudge,

I strongly suggeest that you look into Yamaha pianos. In your price range
you should be able to find a nice smaller grand. They have several models
under 5'8" (you'll have to figure it out, I'm American) but I'm thinking
that a G-1 or C-1 would be ideal for your small room, with my preference
being the C-1. If you would like to see an overview of my qualifications
for making this suggestion, I suggest you visit my website:

Aaack! I forgot to tell you the most important thing. Be EXTREMELY wary of
Chinese pianos. They are generally crap!
