I'm looking to get up to speed on piano tuning and minor service.
I have a background in music theory and physics, so I'll be able to
understand the concepts, but I've never dealt with mechanisms of
acoustic pianos before.

I could use recommendations for any websites that specialize in
tuning/service. But the primary thing that I'm looking for is a basic
tool kit, or a list of tools that I will need, and recommended
sources.

Any ideas?

PS: Are tuning pin dimensions reasonably standardized? I'm planning to
start by tuning a 1974 Wurlitzer spinet.

Also curious about something: I work on guitars. Once in a while a
string will pop. It usually doesn't do any damage, but I've talked to
people who have had them fly up and puncture their skin.

It occurred to me that a breaking piano string could put a serious
hole in you. Does that ever happen?
