A friend of mine is asking me for advice on buying an excellent condition 20
year old "Shafen Brothers" (not sure I got that spelling right...) baby
grand from a neighbor for $1,500. I know nothing of pianos, brands and
their pricing.

Can anyone help?

TIA---

Sam:

Tell your friend to get a professional piano technician to look at the piano
before he buys it. $1500 is not much for 20 year old baby grand, DE:ENDING
on what, if anything, is wrong with it. So it needs to be checked by someone
who knows what they're doing before spending any money on it. It COULD be a
great deal, or it COULD be a $1500 door stop!

Just curious, how much is your price for a good check on a grand?
Drivingcosts not included.
And how much for a tuning? In Denmark the price varies from $100-$175 +
driving for a tuning
